A little apathy for our environment

Saturday night was "Earth Hour" ....to much  hype and fan fare.   I was so conscientious in doing my part.....starting with my office.  I was really looking forward to seeing, at some point - a satellite photo of the earth and instead of it looking like "Lite Brite", it would be dark - the way it should be at night.

I turned on the tv after 9:00pm to see how we did for that one hour.   According to Toronto Hydro - we only reduced usage by 7% or 150,000 homes.   In a city of millions.........What a joke.  What would have been the harm in everyone trying something for just one hour?   It gave me an excuse to light candles, have some wine and a romantic moment snuggled with my honey on the sofa.   I think I might turn out all the lights more often - just to enjoy the soft glow of candlelight and knowledge that in some way, my little drop in the proverbial bucket - is doing SOMETHING - albeit miniscule and perhaps even unnoticed......for my environmental footprint.

What about you?
