"I laughed so hard I peed my pants, but only a couple of drops."
I can do both altho sometimes, not well. Today was a crappy day for some reason....maybe it was the storm blowing in, or maybe it was just a growth spurt in my metamorphosis.....
So a dear friend and I went walking. And we talked. My wish for myself today was to find re-enchantment with life and living.....to reconnect with the magic and mystery of life. My walk with my girlfriend was all I needed. We saw an amazing carving on a tree on our walk - just sorta "out there" but beautiful. In our talk, I was struck by the magnificence and power of a friendship spanning (on and off) over 20 years.
While my marriage of less than one year, has been over for 8 years - I hung on to the videos for one moment......and the moment was a special one between my friend of longevity and myself that happened to be caught on camera. Not the wedding, not anything else pertaining to what is now referred to as the "fall formal". Just that one moment between childhood friends marking a milestone in our lives.....we watched it together once. The thought of it still moves me becuase there was so much of everything in it. Ups, downs, hope, joy, and most importantly, love.
What helped me re-enchant with everyday living......was that we've been friends for so long we could sum up a number of years thusly:
Hey - congratulations on your engagement.
Hey - sorry it didn't work out
Hey - what are you doing with your ring? (asked while paying for a purchase on a shopping adventure)
Hey- I don't know - what are you doing with yours?
Hey - I"m really glad to hear that you sold your ring to do something amazing for yourself and help others in the process. You've inspired me to sell mine.........
NOW - you'll have to stay tuned for another 3 years or so to hear the rest of THAT story.
Thank you dear friend for being the life-ring I needed tonight. I may be a woman of MANY (sometimes too many) words - but relationships are often clumsy for me and I often fail. THANKS for hanging in and investing in 20 years of ups and downs instead of a clumsy moment.....I learned a great deal from you tonight.
